This is the best diner I've ever been to. They have breakfast down to a science. The home fries are by far the best I've had. The service is good. Super busy for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday though especially during tourist season but the counter is self seat so I always sit there. LOVE this place

Great breakfast menu, we were a little late for the breakfast special which would have saved $$. Left very full :)

Excellent breakfast--the Healthy Morning was yummy, great whole wheat bread, the home fries--chocolate chip pancakes, & perfectly poached eggs. We are very full! Would definitely visit again.

Great food, great service. Not a fancy, gourmet place but for a Diner it's top notch. The bread is fresh and healthy and the fruit is fresh. The servers are all attentive and hospitable they serve you quickly and smile all the while. I always get the tasty tomato and sprout sandwich with a side of tabouli - filling but light and mmmm so good! My bf loves the eggs in the bayou - a scrumptious mix of crab, bacon, tender English muffin and delicious hollandaise and green onions - he highly recommends getting it with French fries rather than home fries, extra crispy, duh. Add parmesan dressing to dip the fries in - sounds strange but it's gooood. Another favorite on the healthier their side is the stuffed avocado salad - I get it with tabouli he gets it with chicken salad, talking about a refreshing scrumptious meal! Whatever you get, this place will not disappoint. Guaranteed. Free Coffee available during your wait (sat/sun) which isn't too long even though it may look it, rocking chairs on the porch make it a pleasant experience.

Friendly service, good coffee, nice breakfast menu. French toast and raisins a nice touch. Very reasonable.

The service is fast and friendly. Everyone seems to be family or owners, that's how good the service was. I had the eggs Benedict with crab (I opted sans the bacon) and ordered only one. Wish I had ordered the double. These eggs were fabulous, and the crab meat was very generous. So good, I went back the next day and ordered the double. This time with home fries, which were cooked to perfection. I will drive from South Florida for these eggs. Fabulous!!!

Not only the food is absolutely amazing (eggs bayou ... Wow. and I was able to switch home fries for 2 pancakes!) The service is ... almost overwhelming. Everyone is sooo nice and attentive, I feel like a king :)

Love Beach Diner! Mexican omelet is the jam...my only wish is that they would add biscuits and gravy to the menu!

Had lunch there again today, I've lost count how many times I have eaten lunch here. Good food and good atmosphere (great veggies and selection) Most lunch specials are 8.99 or 9.99. Salmon, pot roast, meatloaf and pork roast etc with 2 veggies is the norm for me.

I was up and out early trying to do some last minute errands and I was starving. I've had Beach Diner bookmarked on my phone for a while so I decided to try it. I asked for a recommendation from the lady behind the counter and without hesitation, she suggested her favorite - the Eggs on the Bayou, which is eggs benedict with crab meat and bacon. When I heard bacon, I was sold. For the side, the choices were grits, potatoes or fruit. Being wary that the potatoes may lack seasoning given the apparent epidemic in Jacksonville, I asked and was assured that they were good. And to my delight, they were, hence the 5-stars despite my English muffin being burnt. The hollandaise sauce was also tasty, which is no easy feat. The beach house feel, the helpful staff and the reasonable prices make Beach Diner a must try if you're in the area.

Seems us beach folks don't like to make our own breakfasts and some how the Adeeb family found this out! Beach Diner is to the North Beach folks what Ellen's Kitchen is to those in the South Beach. Heaven! My favorite is the Sunrise Special, 2 eggs, 2 Bacon or Sausage Links, Grits, Hash Browns, or Fruit, Toast or English Muffin. All for $3.39! Some of ya'll know I am an Eggs Benedict fan, so here is the scoop. The are perfection! Traditional Eggs Benedict (single) -A perfectly Poached Egg topped with Canadian Bacon on a Toasted English Muffin, Hollandaise Sauce, with Fruit, grits or Hash Browns for $5.49. Haven't had the lunch yet, been too full from breakfast. I do plan on making it back soon.

LOVE Beach Diner! This is a great, beachy, breakfast spot with delicious pancakes, french toast, omelets and benedicts, not to mention a pretty palatable lunch offering. I've been here what feels like hundreds of times and I always leave happy, stuffed, and generally ready to nap. I'd highly recommend the Shrimp and Crab Omelette, which comes chock full of Mayport Shirmp and fresh, flaky crabmeat. The service here is always cheerful and attentive, and the bright, sunlit environment is always winning on a sleepy morning. The diner is only open until mid-afternoon, and it gets line-out-the-door packed on the weekends so come early and come hungry!

Love Beach Diner. However, this is the south. Sausage gravy please. I have to drive all the way the Ellen's, which is equally as great, just for sausage gravy. The Sunday morning cure all.

This is my goto place for breakfast. Their Eggs Benedict and home fries are always a favorite with family and out of town visitors. The food is hot, tastes good and is served by a wonderful staff. The place is always busy for breakfast so expect a wait but, believe me, it's worth it.

Having eaten breakfast at the Beach Diner several months ago, I eagerly anticipated a return visit. This breakfast visit was a disappointment. I ordered eggs, bacon and whole wheat toast and my wife ordered pecan pancakes and sausage. The eggs and grits were fine and the fresh wheat bread was crunchy and excellent. The three strips of bacon, however, were fatty and cold. Awful. My wife's pancakes were hot and good...but not the pecan she has ordered. They were plain cakes. Tasty.. but not what she ordered. Additionally her sausage was not hot and had a funky aftertaste. Overall, a disappointing experience. Maybe Beach Diner was having a bad day...but they can definitely do better than this.

Your breakfast is free at your hotel. I understand this. But at some point you may be tired of watered down orange juice, bitter bulk coffee, partially defrosted fruit, and badly cooked eggs. When you are, take a break and go to Beach Diner. Now, let's clear up something here. In Atlantic Beach, "Beach" Diner, Ragtime, Sun Dog, and Ocean 60 are NOT on the beach. They are, however, within a few blocks and still worth going to. So, when you pull up to Beach Diner, and even when you first walk in, it may seem underwhelming from what you otherwise may have expected. Settle in, order the perfectly cooked eggs, thick cut bacon, so-fresh-that-even-the-melon-tastes-good fruit, juice, coffee, and pancakes or their shrimp and crab omelet. Then, the next time that you are in the area, you will know where to go for breakfast.

Although the server was disconnected, the bayou eggs were wow! My husbands breakfast did not warrant raves and was over priced. The waffles with strawberries were ok, nothing to write home about. If we have a choice of diners, we will choose the metro.

This place is very much open! Left Atlantic Beach today after a long workout and was craving hearty breakfast food. Drove past this unassuming diner and cut in front of a cop to pull into the parking lot. Cheery, with white wood walls and beachy prints hanging, the menu had exactly what I hoped- egg, pig, coffee. Enjoyed their special take on Eggs New Bern with bacon, tomato and scallion to boot. Knowing this pick could go either way (delicious or over the top strange combo), it was great, especially for under $10. This meal came with a side so I chose grits and asked for them with cheese. Side of sausage (3 links) completed the meal. Doctored up the cheese grits with a little Tabasco and cut up the sausage and mixed it in to kick up the flavor. In closing- great find in a laid-back atmosphere. Perfect for breakfast without having to get dressed up.

After reading so many great review we decided to try the Beach Diner for breakfast on Sunday and YES - it was as good as everyone says. Hubby had "The Ultimate" breakfast and for $8.99 it was huge and way more then he could eat. I had the traditional Eggs Benedict for $7.49 - just a single serve with homefries and even that way more than I could eat - oh - the homefries are totally awesome ! This is an excellent value for money and you won't go away hungry - we will be back time and time again as the staff are very friendly and really make you feel welcome.

Typically, I don't like to brunch anywhere that doesn't serve me copious amounts of champagne. But, if I need to get breakfast somewhere and be sober, this is always a good go-to. This place has all of your standard breakfast items, some with a southern twist. The service is great and everyone is friendly. I don't typically eat lunch here, but I imagine its good as well. My favorite breakfast item is the AM rider, which is a pita piled high with scrambled eggs, peppers, onions etc. Their breakfast hash-brown/potatoes are great, and cooked to crispy perfection. Eggs on the bayou is a fun twist to the traditional eggs Benedict, and is also delicious. Or, just get the old standby eggs, meat and toast!

We have been eating at the PV local for years, but not without so much repeated frustration. Whether we order to eat in, or order to take out, they usually get something wrong in the order. We pretty much just expect it now.

Favorite place for breakfast, brunch or dinner! Service is always great. Food comes out fresh and is hot. Always a great place to go for comfort food. Some days they even offer special menu options that include some southern style entrees and veggies. Yum!

Was really excited to go here after reading the reviews. Stopped in on a Saturday morning had to wait just a couple minutes but typical so no worries. Was sat right in front section in a booth. The bench for the booth was almost as high as the table and for someone tall like me makes it very Un comfortable. Lady who sat us got our drink orders right away then sat there for bout 5 mins waiting on our actually server. She finally came over and took our order with no much enthusiasm. Food came I got and omelet and wife got a short stack. Omelet was good and ingredients was fresh. The slice of swiss right on top looked cheap there home fries which are basically potatoe wedges were good but seemed a little over cooked which goes right along with my wife's pancakes just seemed a little too done. After we finished we waited for another 5 mins for our very Un enthusiastic server to give us our bill. When we went to pay the guy tried to charge us for a pink lemonade which we didn't order. We both had water my wife brings her own flavoring packs for the water. We had the same conversation with our server..All in all was good breakfast with OK service. .

Best spot around for breakfast. We come every time we are in the area. The early morning breakfast is a great deal if you can be there before 8! I've had several dishes from here and they are all delicious. Staff is very friendly! They have some great pancakes too!

  • Rose H.

Delicious! Great food quick service once you are seated. On the weekends you will have a wait, but it's well worth it! We had eggs on the bayou which is an awesome eggs Benedict dish. Crab, bacon, poached egg on an English muffin covered with hollandaise sauce and green onions & tomatoes! Delicious!!! And the chronology crab omelette. Just simply delicious!

  • Carrington W.

I love Yelp. Because it helps me find places like this. Fantastic breakfast. I went with the "Eggs on the Bayou", and no other breakfast will ever live up to it. Great service and a cool, "local flavor" place. I'll be back for sure.

  • Christopher L.

So finally checked this place out and wish I had went sooner. I ordered the Godfather sandwich which was amazing and bread was just the right crunchy crust, but soft in the inside. My buddy ordered the Eggs over the Bayou which had crab meat, hollandaise sauce, poached egg, bacon on top of a English muffin! Of course being the great friend I tried a bite to make sure it was safe... holy cow that was good. Oh and he also ordered The Sinful Belgium, one of the best waffles I have ever had. ALSO MILITARY DISCOUNT! TOP MARKS: Hospitality, speedy service, and freaking great food!! LOW MARKS: Closes at 1430, Bigger Plates

Most of the food tasted like it had been sitting in a pan, barely warm. It had been some time since I was there last and now I remember why. There are better options near the beach than this place.

  • Lee K.

Stopped by for a late breakfast with the kiddos while traveling back home to SC and definitely glad we did. We both opted for the Eggs on the Bayou and definitely enjoyed the dish. The wife opted for the side of fruit and I the home fries which I probably should have went with something else. The chunks of potatoes were a little too big for me. The kids pancakes were great and tasted awesome, I may have stolen one!! The service was friendly albeit a tad slow for a Monday late morning in my opinion but at least they were nice! Overall a solid breakfast location and we'll definitely be back.

Unique breakfast dishes like "eggs on the bayou". This gets crowded on the weekend so be prepared for a wait. Thankfully they have a nice patio area with free coffee. Service is always friendly and dependable.

Sat at the bar and met super friendly staff(Lisa) . My order came out wrong and they were more than happy to fix it immediately. Five stars for awesome staff and an overall friendly vibe. The food however was underwhelming. Not bad but nothing to write home about. Had shrimp and crab omelette and the mr had the ultimate breakfast. It was overall just okay. Also, the coffee isn't wonderful but you don't have to chase anyone down for a refill.

  • Courtney K.

AWESOME! Service was one of the best I've ever had, from greeting to walking out the door. We had breakfast and the food was absolutely delicious. Prices were just right. Atmosphere was so enjoyable. If you're looking for a top notch place to do breakfast, lunch, or brunch along the Jax Beaches, this place is a MUST. Loved it.

Service was a 5. Food was a 3. Server was extremely friendly and accommodating our group. She went out of her way to try and find us a plug for one of my friends phones. I ordered the eggs on the bayou which was okay. It could have been hotter.

    (4)
  • Michelle M. C.

Great prices, great service and great food. I had the short stack with french toast, fried eggs and ordered home fries on the side. Food looked ok, nothing special, however, the taste was perfect. Friends had the grilled salmon with eggs (asked for it blackened) and the garden omelette. Both of them loved it. Coffee wasn't great... but I am extra picky with coffee, so I might be biased.

Was looking for breakfast food at lunch time, and this was the closest place that popped up. Wow, am I glad it did. I went in on a Friday, and it was pretty packed, and very loud. Promptly seated and served. I ordered eggs Benedict with fruit. The eggs were perfectly poached, the Canadian bacon grilled just right, and the English muffin toasty and buttery. The bernaise sauce was perfect. The fruit was all fresh and ripe. The staff were constantly running around cleaning and sweeping. The decor is typical country diner/beach themed. There is a huge area out front loaded with seating. I imagine they need it on weekends, as I expect they are packed. Excellent meal. Will definitely be back.

  • Thaddeus W.

Food was good, people were friendly, server kept my coffee warm. I love it here in Jacksonville, so much less pretentious than Dallas. Everyone seems friendly. This place looks like a lot of locals come hangout. I guess Jax isn't a huge tourist destination, however it is a hidden gem, and this cute little diner fits the area perfectly.

  • Pamela D.

I've been here a few times and at first I was under impressed because the eggs weren't cooked properly (the Sunnyside up were just too raw) plus the waitress argued with me about the eggs and assumed her tip aka she never brought us our change. But, I've given it a few more tries and am happy to say that I haven't seen that terribly rude waitress since and the chef has made the eggs a perfect Sunnyside up every time since! Every time after the one I described has been everything I'd expect from a diner: Clean environment, friendly staff and perfectly executed breakfast entrees. That being said, this is the sweetest little diner here in Jacksonville. My favorite meals include their greek omelet and all the different waffles, but especially the pecan! If you're in the mood for it, their eggs Benedict rocks--be adventurous and try the seafood one. It is soooooo good. If you want a nice breakfast before work, catch the early bird special between 6am and 8am. It's lower on price for an amazing, all-American breakfast platter!

    (4)
  • David S.

Eggs Benedict was great, grits were good, and the coffee was drinkable (which is good). Mid morning (930) on a Friday and the place is decently filled, which is a good sign. Review is a four only because there's so much more (like lunch!) to try.

    (4)

The food and service were very good! Not a single negative thing to say about my experience here. The decor is cool looking and has a beach type of feel to it. The food came out pretty quick and was very delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and had a great attitude. I love the fact that they have fresh fruit as a side option also. Great place for breakfast for sure!

  • John P.

Great food and service...terrible coffee. We really enjoyed our breakfast at Beach Diner. The eggs, omelettes and pancakes were very good and our waitress was amazing pleasant. Our only minus was the poor tasting coffee. We did not expect gourmet but it tasted awful in the self-serve container but also the stuff they poured at the table. Sort of put a damper on the great food. Please fix this...

This food is amazing and around great. The Pancakes are off the hook. The lunch is AMAZING.

    (5)
  • Meghan K.

Always delicious - also, always crowded on the weekends if you don't get there early. Even when they are busting at the seams the wait isn't more than 30ish minutes. Eggs on the bayou is a MUST for any eggs Benedict (and crab) lover. According to a chicken finger expert I know, the mama Helen's chicken and waffles is also a must try. Pancakes are great, nice and fluffy with lots of good flavor. The staff is always friendly and will keep your coffee full - and give you to go cups that are giant! Advice would be to go early, and eat lots of homefries!

    (5)
  • Adam W.

Neat beach diner atmosphere to match the name, even though it's not actually on the beach. I like it. Food was good, very fresh, well prepared. Menu is diverse. If I had to air a complaint (and I'm hesitant to do so), it's that the menu is a bit ho-hum. As in not particularly interesting. But this isn't a bad thing if they prepare the food well, which they do.

    (4)
  • Tom B.

Eggs on the bayou! By far the most popular and for a reason. Hint of Cajun on the crab meat, great eggs and hollandaise sauce to top. Home fruits were nothing special but other sides available. Definitely coming back!

FORGET THE CHAINS! BEACH DINER IS YOUR PLACE FOR BREAKFAST! Based on dozens of high reviews here on Yelp, my wife and I decided to give this place a shot in June of 2014 while staying at the Mayport Naval Base, about 15 minutes from 501 Atlantic Blvd. There was one party ahead in line, but we were seated in under three minutes. When the waitress couldn't take our order right away, Jimmy became Johnny-On-The-Spot to get the order. It turns out that he was the manager and he could not have been nicer, even though his restaurant was packed and he was multi-multi-tasking. We shared a shrimp-and-crab omelette with hollandaise sauce and home fries and English muffins that were all just right. Our bill was well within the "reasonable" limits and Jimmy made sure to include a military discount. We'll definitely get back to this address.

Avocado salad stuffed with tabouli was a real find. Beach Diner is the perfect "brunch" solution with all kinds of breakfast items and solid lunch menu too! We called ahead to see if there was oatmeal on the menu and the said they would "hold some for us!" How's that for customer service? Service was great, the store was clean and comfortable. Tile flooring made the noise level elevated. Wish there were more vegan options on the menu but between the fruit, oatmeal, and salad choices, we certainly left full and happy.

Typical neighborhood diner. Nothing special but the staff is very friendly. The owner will come out and chit chat with you while you're eating breakfast or lunch. Pretty reasonably priced pretty average food.

Great local place for a good breakfast. Excellent pancakes and eggs benedict. Good coffee. Beachy style with white walls and blue accents, sailboats and birds, etc. Friendly staff and good service.

  • Tim G.

This place never fails. For breakfast, I love the salmon and eggs plate. If I'm in the mood for lunch, I usually get the garlic shrimp rider - a pita stuffed with boiled Mayport shrimp, vegetables and provolone cheese. Service is always friendly, but be prepared to wait for 15-20 minutes on busy weekends. They have a first come, first serve section that can cut out the wait if you're lucky.

    (4)
  • Amanda C.

I've been here twice for breakfast and both times it was amazing. The portions are big, the food comes out fast and the coffee is the perfect strength. This most recent visit, my mom had the eggs on the bayou... a delicious twist to the usual eggs benedict. It comes with crab meat and bacon instead of ham. yum yum!

    (5)
  • Bill K.

A fairly good breakfast/lunch place, but I think I will keep going back to the Metro Diner as it is a little better (IMO) for just about the same price.
